Static GK for SSC CGL: How to Use This Page

Static GK is the part of General Awareness that does not change every month: history, polity, geography, art and culture, economy basics, general science and the classic lists (firsts, symbols, organisations, books, awards). This page links all 64 BookOfExams static GK notes by topic, with SSC previous-year question (PYQ) tests under each topic.

What the official syllabus says: The SSC CGL 2026 notice (Para 13.10.2) says GA questions test "general awareness of the environment around him", current events and everyday science, and include questions on "India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research". SSC does not publish topic-wise weightage, so cover every block below.

Source: SSC CGL 2026 notice (PDF). GA carries 25 questions (50 marks) in Tier-I and 25 questions (75 marks) in Tier-II Section-II. See the SSC CGL exam pattern 2026.

How to Study Static GK for SSC CGL

  1. Go block by block, not note by note. Finish one block (for example Polity) in a week, then take its PYQ test.
  2. Use the lists for last-minute revision. National parks, dances, firsts and organisations are quick one-liners; revise them in the final 10 days.
  3. Mix static and current. Many questions link a static fact to a recent event (a new Ramsar site, a new GI tag). Read the 2026 lists on this page alongside monthly current affairs.
  4. Take topic PYQ tests twice. Once after reading, once a week before the exam.

Static GK for SSC CGL FAQs

What is static GK in SSC CGL?

Static GK covers facts that do not change often: history, polity, geography, culture, economy concepts, general science and lists such as national symbols, firsts and international organisations. Current affairs, by contrast, cover recent events.

How many GK questions come in SSC CGL?

25 General Awareness questions in Tier-I (50 marks) and 25 in Tier-II Paper-I Section-II (75 marks), as per the CGL 2026 notice. Both include static GK and current affairs.

Which static GK topics are most important for SSC CGL?

SSC does not publish topic weightage, so no block can be skipped. A practical order is History, Polity and Geography first (they have the most notes and PYQ sets here), then culture, economy, science and the lists.

Is this static GK useful for CHSL, MTS and RRB exams too?

Yes. SSC CHSL, MTS and GD, and RRB NTPC and Group D all ask the same kind of static GK, so the same notes work for them.
