Start any test without an account. Marks are worked out with SSC's +2 / −0.50 rule the moment you submit, and the section-wise breakdown shows exactly where the marks went.

SSC CHSL Negative Marking (+2 / −0.50)

CHSL Tier 1 gives 2 marks for each correct answer and deducts 0.50 for each wrong one. Unanswered questions score zero, so a skipped question is always better than a wild guess when you cannot eliminate any option.

Tier 2 deducts a full mark for every wrong answer against +3 for a right one. The mocks on this page use the Tier 1 scale, which is what you need for the November-December 2026 exam.

Worked example (Tier 1 marking)

60 right and 12 wrong: 60 × 2 − 12 × 0.5 = 114 marks. Leaving those 12 blank instead would have given 120.

How to use SSC CHSL mocks before Tier 1

CHSL Tier 1 rewards balance. Each of the four parts carries the same 50 marks and gets the same 15 minutes, so a weak part cannot be covered by a strong one any more. Begin by taking one sectional test per subject and noting your score per part. That tells you where the easiest marks are hiding.

For most aspirants English and General Awareness are the fastest parts. In English, aim to finish vocabulary and error questions in about 25 seconds each and keep the extra time for cloze and comprehension. In GA, answer what you know at once and do not spend more than a few seconds on unknown facts; there is no way to work them out.

Quantitative Aptitude is where CHSL papers vary the most between shifts. The 2026 notice lists algebra, geometry, trigonometry and mensuration, not only arithmetic, so do the topic-wise tests on those chapters even though the section is called "Basic Arithmetic Skill".

From about six weeks before your date, add full mocks: one every three days at first, then every other day in the last two weeks. After each one, re-attempt the wrong questions without looking at the solution, then read the solution. Questions you get wrong twice go into a short revision list that you go through before every new mock.

Keep an eye on accuracy, not just attempts. With −0.50 per wrong answer, 85 attempts at 80% accuracy score less than 78 attempts at 95% accuracy. The previous year papers on this page are the best final check of your level.
