FAQs
What is the DA rate for central government employees in 2026?
Dearness Allowance is 60% of basic pay from 1 January 2026 (Department of Expenditure OM dated 22.04.2026). The instalment due from 1 July 2026 had not been notified when we last checked on 23 October 2026; when it is, type the new rate in the DA box and every figure updates.
How is HRA calculated for X, Y and Z cities?
HRA is a percentage of basic pay only: 30% in X cities, 20% in Y cities and 10% in Z cities, because DA has crossed 50%. It cannot be less than ₹5,400, ₹3,600 and ₹1,800 respectively. If you live in government accommodation you get no HRA.
How much Transport Allowance does a central government employee get?
In the 19 cities listed in the TA order: ₹7,200 (Level 9 and above), ₹3,600 (Levels 3 to 8) or ₹1,350 (Levels 1 and 2). At all other places: ₹3,600, ₹1,800 or ₹900. DA is paid on TA too. Level 1 and 2 employees drawing ₹24,200 or more get the Level 3-8 rate.
Is the in-hand salary shown here exact?
No, it is an estimate. It deducts only the employee's NPS contribution of 10% of basic + DA. Income tax, professional tax, CGEGIS, CGHS and any department-specific deduction or allowance are not included, so your pay slip will differ.
Why does the calculator not work out DA and HRA for SBI and IBPS posts?
Bank officers and clerks are not on the 7th CPC pay matrix. Their DA, HRA and other allowances follow the bank's own rules, so we show only what the official notice prints: the pay scale, the starting basic pay and, for SBI, SBI's own estimate of emoluments.
What is a pay cell or pay stage?
Each pay level has a column of cells. You join at the first cell, and each annual increment of 3% moves you one cell down, rounded to the nearest ₹100. Pick "Year 2", "Year 3" and so on to see your pay after increments.
Will the 8th Pay Commission change these figures?
Yes, once its recommendations are accepted and notified. Until then pay is fixed under the 7th CPC pay matrix, which is what this calculator uses.
