SSC JE Salary 2026: Quick Answer
As per the official SSC JE 2026 notice, Junior Engineer and Scientific Assistant (IMD) posts are Group 'B' in Pay Level 6 of the 7th CPC, with a pay scale of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400, so a new JE starts on a basic pay of ₹35,400 a month. With DA at 63% (from 1 July 2026), HRA and Transport Allowance, our approximate calculation gives a gross of about ₹64,200 to ₹74,200 and an in-hand of about ₹58,400 to ₹68,400 before income tax, depending on the city.

Grade pay: the 7th CPC has no grade pay. Older articles quote "grade pay ₹4,200" from the 6th CPC; today the position is simply Pay Level 6.
SSC JE In-Hand Salary 2026 by City
Formula: gross = basic + DA 63% + HRA + Transport Allowance (with DA); in-hand = gross − NPS (10% of basic + DA). Level 6 gets the higher TA slab (₹3,600 in listed cities, ₹1,800 elsewhere, plus DA). Income tax, professional tax and department deductions are not included.

What DA 63% Changed for SSC JE
DA rose from 60% to 63% of basic from 1 July 2026. On ₹35,400, that is ₹1,062 more a month in DA, and TA rises by ₹108. The Department of Expenditure order on arrears for July to October had not been seen when this page was updated, so we publish no arrear figure.
SSC JE Level 6 Increments
You join at cell 1 of Level 6 and normally move up one cell a year (₹35,400, ₹36,500, ₹37,600, ₹38,700 and so on up to ₹1,12,400 at the top). Source: the 7th CPC pay matrix, Table 5. Promotion rules and posting-specific allowances depend on the department you are allotted, and the SSC notice does not list them.
