SSC JE Exam Day Guidelines 2026: Quick Answer

For SSC JE Paper-I, carry a printout of your Admission Certificate and an original valid photo ID with your date of birth; if you have not done Aadhaar-based authentication, also bring two recent passport-size colour photographs and report two hours before the exam. Leave mobile phones, Bluetooth and every electronic gadget outside, because possessing one in the hall counts as unfair means. Paper-I is 200 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours with 0.25 negative marking, and a scientific calculator is shown on screen.

Key takeaway: These rules are from the official SSC JE 2026 notice (paras 13 and 15 and the unfair-means list). Your Admission Certificate is the final word on shift, venue and time. As of 29 October 2026; Paper-I dates in SSC's 26 October scheduling notice are 2 to 6 November and 30 November to 1 December 2026, so confirm yours on the SSC notice board.

Documents to Carry to the SSC JE Exam

DocumentRule
Admission Certificate printoutMandatory

Extra date-of-birth proofNeeded if your photo ID does not print the DoB (for example a Matriculation certificate or birth certificate)

A mismatch between the date of birth on the Admission Certificate and your ID or certificate means you will not be allowed to appear. These ID checks do not apply the same way to Aadhaar-authenticated candidates.

SSC JE Reporting Time

Candidates who have not undergone Aadhaar-based authentication must report two hours before the scheduled start (para 15.7). For others, follow the reporting and gate-closing time on your Admission Certificate. Do not rely on blog posts for a time.
