SSC JE Exam Date 2026: Quick Answer

SSC JE 2026 Paper-I (computer based) is scheduled for 2 to 6 November 2026 and 30 November to 1 December 2026, according to SSC's corrigendum dated 26 October 2026. The notice of examination had given only a tentative window of October/November 2026 for Paper-I and December 2026 for Paper-II; SSC has not announced a Paper-II date yet.

Key takeaway: Paper-I starts tomorrow, 2 November 2026, for the first batch. The notice says six subjects (Parts A to F) run in one batch and Part-G (Telecommunication) for the JE (Telecom) post runs in a separate batch, so the late window of 30 November to 1 December is most likely for that batch. SSC's corrigendum lists the two windows but does not label them, so check your own admission certificate.

Official sources: SSC corrigendum dated 26.10.2026 (PDF) and the SSC JE 2026 notice of examination (PDF), Para 1 and 13.

The same corrigendum shifted the SSC CPO exam to 23 to 28 November. Read about it in our SSC CPO exam date 2026 note.

Why Are There Two Windows for Paper-I?

SSC's notice explains that the six subjects Part-A (Civil), Part-B (Electrical), Part-C (Mechanical), Part-D (CS and IT), Part-E (Electronics and Telecommunication) and Part-F (Physics) are conducted in one batch, while Part-G for the post of JE (Telecom) is conducted in a separate batch (Para 13.2 and 13.4). Our reading, which SSC has not spelled out in the corrigendum, is that the first window is for the main batch and the second for Telecom. Your admission certificate is the only proof of your date, shift and venue.

When Will the SSC JE Admit Card 2026 Come Out?

The SSC JE notice says the admission certificate download facility opens 3 to 4 days before the examination on the SSC website, and that the exam city and time table are uploaded about 10 days before (Para 15.4 and 15.6). It is never sent by post or email. Check ssc.gov.in daily until your shift, and read our SSC JE exam day guidelines 2026 for the documents and two-hour reporting rule if you have not done Aadhaar based authentication.

What Is the Paper-I Pattern?

Paper-I has 200 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates): 50 General Intelligence and Reasoning, 50 General Awareness and 100 in your engineering part. It is qualifying in nature, with 0.25 negative marking. See SSC JE Paper 1 pattern 2026 and the Paper-II details in SSC JE Paper 2 pattern 2026.

Last-Minute Plan for 2 to 6 November Candidates

  1. Re-read the SSC JE syllabus 2026 heading list and mark weak topics only.
  2. Take one timed sectional per day: SSC JE Reasoning mock test 01, General Awareness mock test 01 and your engineering paper such as Civil Part-A mock test 01 or Electrical Part-B mock test 01.
  3. Practise with the on-screen scientific calculator, because no physical calculator is allowed.
  4. Keep your photo ID and printout ready. Rules are in the exam day note.
  5. Do not change your approach: attempt only questions where you can narrow the options, because every wrong answer in Paper-I costs 0.25.

What Happens After Paper-I

Paper-I is qualifying. Candidates are shortlisted for Paper-II by merit, after minimum qualifying marks of 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS and 20% for others (Para 18.1). Only normalised Paper-II scores decide the final merit (Para 13.16). Past cut-offs are in our SSC JE cut off 2025 note, and pay details are in SSC JE salary 2026.
