SSC CPO Exam Day Guidelines 2026: Quick Answer

For SSC CPO Paper-I 2026, carry a printout of your Admission Certificate (admit card), and if you did not complete Aadhaar authentication, report 2 hours before your shift with two recent passport-size colour photos and an original photo ID showing your date of birth exactly as on the admit card. Mobile phones, Bluetooth and any electronic gadget are banned; being caught with one can mean a 3 to 5 year debarment from SSC exams.

Exam dates (as of 28 Oct 2026): The computer based Paper-I for Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs is scheduled for 23 to 28 November 2026, as per the SSC corrigendum dated 26.10.2026 (earlier 20 to 28 November). Every rule below comes from the official SSC notice for the SI in Delhi Police and CAPFs Examination, 2026 (PDF), Para 8.3, 13 and 18. Your admit card may add instructions, and those must be followed too (Para 13.9).

If you are still revising, start with the SSC CPO syllabus 2026 and the new Paper-I pattern (100 questions, 100 marks, 1 hour, 15-minute sectional timer for each part).

SSC CPO Reporting Time 2026

The notice gives one fixed rule: candidates who have not undergone Aadhaar-based authentication must report at the exam centre two (02) hours before the scheduled start (Para 13.7 and Para 23(q)).

For Aadhaar-authenticated candidates, the notice does not give a separate reporting time, so follow the reporting and gate-closing time printed on your admit card. Practically, aim to be at the venue early anyway: the centre may be in another part of the city, and identity checks and biometric capture take time.

Documents Required for SSC CPO Exam Day

If you did NOT use Aadhaar authentication

Para 13.7 makes the following mandatory; without them you will not be allowed entry:

  1. Printout of the Admission Certificate (admit card) - required for everyone (Para 13.6).
  2. At least two recent passport-size colour photographs.
  3. Original valid photo ID that shows the date of birth as printed on the admit card.

Accepted photo IDs listed in the notice:

Accepted original photo ID (Para 13.7)
Voter ID card
Driving licence
PAN card
Passport
ID card issued by university, college or school
Employer ID card (Govt./PSU)
Ex-serviceman Discharge Book issued by the Ministry of Defence
Any other photo ID issued by the Central or State Government

If your ID has no date of birth on it, carry an extra original document proving your DOB, such as your Matriculation certificate, a marks sheet issued by CBSE/ICSE/State Board, a birth certificate or a category certificate (Para 13.8). If the DOB on the admit card and your ID do not match, you will not be allowed to sit the exam.

If you DID use Aadhaar authentication

According to Para 8.3, candidates who opted for Aadhaar-based authentication will not be required to produce recent colour photographs or an original photo ID for entry to the CBE venue. You still need the admit card printout. One important warning from the notice: do not lock your Aadhaar biometrics, because biometric verification is mandatory at different stages of the exam.

Appearance, Photo Match and Biometric Checks

Your live photo was captured while filling the form, and SSC uses it to stop impersonation. The notice says:

  • Your appearance on exam day should match the photograph in your application (Para 8.5).
  • Venue staff are authorised not to allow suspicious candidates to take the exam (Para 23(y)).
  • Keep your fingers clean and free of heavy mehendi or bandages if possible, so biometric capture at the venue goes smoothly (practical tip, not a rule in the notice).
  • After the exam, SSC runs log analysis, photo and biometric verification and CCTV review (Para 18.1). Malpractice found later can still cancel your candidature.

So avoid a drastic change of look (for example a full beard removed or added, or a new hairstyle that hides your face) close to the exam, and sign in the same style you used in the form.

Banned Items and Malpractice Penalties in SSC CPO 2026

Para 18.2 lists what gets candidates debarred. The most relevant ones on exam day:

Malpractice (Para 18.2)Debarment
Possession of mobile phone, Bluetooth, wireless device, spy camera or any electronic gadget in the exam hall3 to 5 years
Taking away rough sheets or the Commission's copy of the admit card1 to 2 years
Leaving the venue before the exit procedure is complete1 year
Peeking at another candidate's screen or talking during the exam1 to 3 years
Copying from written material on paper or body parts7 years
Photographing or recording the question paper7 years
Impersonation7 years
Forged admit card or ID3 to 5 years
Carrying firearms or weapons, or threatening staff7 years

The notice does not promise a cloak room at the venue, so the safest plan is to leave your phone, smartwatch, earbuds and valuables at home or with someone outside.

What Happens After Paper-I

Paper-I marks decide who goes to the PST/PET. The minimum qualifying marks are 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS and 20% for others (Para 16.2), and SSC may fix different cut-offs part-wise (Para 16.3). Check previous trends in our SSC CPO cut off page and start running practice for the SSC CPO physical test now, because PET follows Paper-I.
