Points to note from the official list:
- Vacancies for outstanding sportspersons are already deducted wherever applicable. For Forest Watcher (40), the figure includes the sports quota posts.
- The figures for Typist (2200), Typist (4200), Typist (3852), Steno Typist (2300), Steno Typist (4300) and Shorthand Typist (3853) include backlog vacancies. The single Steno Typist post at CMDA (3672) is a backlog vacancy only.

Educational Qualification
The notification defines the minimum general educational qualification as a pass in the SSLC examination of Tamil Nadu (the 10th standard exam of the Board of Open School, Tamil Nadu is also accepted). For some Typist and Steno posts, candidates without the Computer on Office Automation certificate may still apply and must acquire it within the probation period or two years of joining. For candidates not belonging to SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC(OBCM) and BCM:

For SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC(OBCM) and BCM candidates, the maximum age is generally 32 years for BC(OBCM), BCM and MBC/DC and 35 years for SC, SC(A) and ST, with more for persons with benchmark disability and ex-servicemen. For many posts there is no maximum age limit for reserved category candidates who hold a higher educational qualification than the minimum. TNPSC Group 4 Salary 2026
Pay is as per the pay level of each post. The notification lists Level 3, Level 5, Level 8 and Level 10 for the posts. The pay band shown for Junior Assistant (Accounts) at TNPDCL is ₹19,500 to ₹62,000 (Level 3) and for Bill Collector at the Urban Habitat Development Board is ₹16,600 to ₹52,400 (Level 3). Junior Assistant at the Handloom Weavers Co-operative Societies is on ₹17,000 to ₹54,060.
TNPSC Group 4 Application Fee 2026
- Examination fee: ₹100, paid online at the time of submitting the application.
- Eligible special categories can claim fee exemption as explained in Annexure II. Ex-servicemen get two free chances, and persons with benchmark disability get full exemption.
- Pay through net banking, credit card, debit card or UPI. Service charges are extra. Offline payment is not accepted.
TNPSC Group 4 Selection Process 2026

For Forest Guard with Driving Licence and Forest Watcher, shortlisted candidates also take a Physical Standards Test and Endurance Test at Chennai. The endurance test is a walk of 25 km for male candidates and 16 km for female and third gender candidates, to be completed in four hours. The final rank list is made on the total marks in the written exam.

- Admission to every stage is provisional. The commission can reject candidature at any stage if a claim is wrong.
- The notification is published in Tamil and English. If there is a doubt, the English version is final.
- Mobile phones, smart watches, smart glasses, books and other electronic items are banned in the exam hall.
- You cannot blame internet cafes for mistakes in the form, so check every detail before final submission.
