BPSC TRE 4.0 Recruitment 2026: The Bihar Public Service Commission has released Advertisement No. 14/2026 dated 18 August 2026 for the fourth phase of the School Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4.0). It invites online applications for 32,388 School Teacher posts under the Education Department, Government of Bihar, from Class 1 to Class 12.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Eligibility 2026

Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)

Teachers appointed and working before 2012 who passed the competency test do not need TET. Candidates with the required qualification who are appearing in STET 2026 can also apply, but they must pass STET 2026 before the Preliminary exam. If not, no admit card is issued.

Educational Qualification (summary)

The qualification must follow the norms of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). For special school teachers it follows the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

• Primary (Class 1-5): Senior Secondary (or graduation) with the two-year Diploma in Elementary Education / D.El.Ed. or other NCTE approved teacher training.
• Middle (Class 6-8): Graduation with a Diploma in Elementary Education, or graduation / post-graduation with B.Ed., or an integrated B.A.Ed. / B.Sc.Ed., with the subject combination asked for the post.
• Secondary (Class 9-10): Graduation / post-graduation in the subject group with minimum 50% marks and B.Ed.
• Higher Secondary (Class 11-12): Post-graduation in the subject with minimum 50% marks and B.Ed. (the notification gives separate subject rules for Computer Science, Music, Commerce subjects and Agriculture).
• Candidates of SC, ST, EBC, BC and Divyang categories get a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks required in the educational and training qualification.

Age Limit

• Divyang candidates get 10 years extra.
• Ex-servicemen get 3 years plus the period of defence service, if their actual age is not above 57 years on the date of application.
• Regular Bihar Government employees get 5 years relaxation, subject to the limit of attempts given in the notification.
• Teachers working in Panchayati Raj and Nagar Nikay institutions have relaxed maximum age.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Application Fee 2026

BPSC TRE 4.0 Selection Process 2026

Selection is through a Preliminary Exam and a Main Exam. There is no interview. Candidates who clear the Preliminary exam apply separately for the Main exam.

Preliminary Exam

• General Studies, objective multiple choice, 150 marks, 2 hours, 1 mark each
• Negative marking: 1/3 mark is cut for a wrong answer. The same cut applies to a question left unanswered without choosing option E.
• Every question has five options (A, B, C, D, E). Choose E if you do not want to answer.
• The Preliminary exam is a screening test only.
• Minimum qualifying marks: General 40%, BC 36.5%, EBC 34%, SC / ST / women / Divyang 32%. The extra relaxation for women and Divyang is given only to Bihar domicile candidates.
• Candidates between 2.5 and 10 times the vacancies (category-wise) are shortlisted for the Main exam.
• Topics: general science, current events, Indian and Bihar history, geography, Indian polity and economy, freedom movement and general mental ability.

Main Exam

The Main exam is objective, multiple choice. The paper for each level has a language part (qualifying, minimum 30%), a General Studies part, and for classes 6 to 12 a subject paper you choose. The marks, number of questions and timing for each level are given in the notification, so check the exact table for your level.

Guest teachers who meet the eligibility get a preference weightage of 5 marks per year of service (up to 25 marks) as per the notification, subject to court orders mentioned there.
