About SSC CGL 2026
The Staff Selection Commission published the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026 notice on 21 May 2026 (F. No. HQ-C11018/1/2026-C-1) for Group B and Group C posts in central government ministries, departments and organisations. Applications are now closed, and the Tier 1 computer-based exam is running from 30 September to 30 October 2026.
Vacancy Update (Revised on 24 September 2026)
The notice of 21 May 2026 said there were approx. 12,256 tentative vacancies. On 24 September 2026 SSC published its post-wise tentative vacancy list, and the total is now 10,731 (UR 4,412, SC 1,715, ST 804, OBC 2,772, EWS 1,028), spread over pay levels 4 to 8. SSC notes that final vacancies may still vary from these tentative figures.

Important Dates
- Notification Released: 21 May 2026
- Online Application: 21 May to 22 June 2026, re-opened 23 June (23:00) to 25 June 2026 (23:00)
- Last Date to Apply: 25 June 2026 (extended from 22 June)
- Last Date for Fee Payment: 26 June 2026 (23:00)
- Application Correction Window: 1 to 3 July 2026 (revised from 29 June to 1 July)
- Tier 1 Exam City Details: Live from 21 September 2026
- Tier 1 Admit Card: Released date-wise, 2 to 3 days before each candidate's exam date
- Tier 1 Exam (CBE): 30 September to 30 October 2026 (ongoing)
- Tier 1 Answer Key and Result: Awaited
- Tier 2 Exam (CBE): December 2026 (tentative, as per the notice)
Eligibility
- Age (as on 01.08.2026): 18-27, 20-30, 18-30 or 18-32 years depending on the post; relaxation for SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwBD and others as per the notice
- Education (as on 01.08.2026): Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university; JSO, Statistical Investigator Grade-II and Assistant Audit/Accounts Officer posts have extra subject or qualification conditions given in the notice
Selection Process
- Tier 1 — Computer Based Test: 100 questions, 200 marks, 60 minutes (General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension; 25 questions each, 15-minute sectional timer, 0.50 negative marking)
- Tier 2 — Computer Based Test: Paper-I (compulsory for all posts, including Computer Knowledge Test and Data Entry Speed Test), Paper-II Statistics (JSO / Statistical Investigator only), Paper-III General Studies – Finance & Economics (AAO only)
