SWR GDCE Recruitment 2026: The Railway Recruitment Cell of South Western Railway has published General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) Notification No. 01/2026 (GDCE) on 28 October 2026 for 258 posts: 247 Goods Train Manager (erstwhile Goods Guard) and 11 Junior Engineer (JE). This is not an open recruitment: only regular serving employees of South Western Railway and RWF/Yelahanka can apply. Online applications open on 9 November 2026 and close on 8 December 2026 at 23:59 hrs at www.rrchubli.in. There is no application fee.

SWR GDCE Eligibility 2026
Who can apply
- Regular and serving employees of SWR divisions, units, workshops and headquarters, and of RWF/Yelahanka. There is no minimum service condition (RBE 72/2024 dated 02.08.2024).
- RPF/RPSF personnel, Law Assistants, Catering Inspectors and the Accounts cadre are not eligible.
- Staff in lower levels are eligible. Staff in the same level can apply for a move from non-safety to safety categories. PwBD staff are eligible for posts other than Goods Train Manager and JE/Signal/S&T.
- Candidates must hold the qualification on the date of the notification, endorsed in the Service Register. Those awaiting results should not apply.

SWR GDCE Selection Process 2026
- Single-stage Computer Based Test (CBT), on the standard of RRB Direct Recruitment.
- Document Verification: candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called, on CBT merit and options.
- Medical Examination and verification of antecedents.
- Questions are multiple-choice in English, with Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi or Konkani selectable; English prevails in a dispute.
- Negative marking: 1/3 of the marks for each wrong answer.
- Minimum qualifying marks: UR 40%, OBC 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%.
- Ties are broken by age (older first), then alphabetical order.
- Mobile phones, calculators and other electronic gadgets are banned in the exam hall. Candidates must bring the e-admit card signed by their supervisor or controlling officer.

Duration: 90 minutes. The notification calls the section split indicative. Mathematics covers number system, percentages, ratio, time and work, time and distance, interest, profit and loss, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics. Reasoning covers analogies, series, coding-decoding, syllogism, Venn diagrams, puzzles and data sufficiency. General Awareness covers current events, sports, culture, history, geography, polity, economy, science and basics of computers.

Duration: 120 minutes (160 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates with a scribe). A virtual calculator is available. Candidates are tested in the exam group their qualification maps to: Mechanical and Allied, Electrical and Allied, Electronics and Allied, or Civil and Allied Engineering. The merit index uses Mq = 40, Sq = 350 and St = 900 as given in the notification.
SWR GDCE Salary 2026
