DU Assistant Eligibility 2026
Educational Qualification and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree from any recognised institute or university.
- Two years of experience as Junior Assistant or an equivalent post in a university, research establishment, Central or State Government, PSU or autonomous body. Equivalent pay in a reputed private company or corporate bank with a minimum annual turnover of Rs 200 crore also counts.
- Typing speed of 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi.
- You should be proficient in computer operations.
- You must meet the qualification and experience on the closing date.
Age Limit
- Maximum 32 years, fixed as on the closing date of the advertisement.
- Relaxation is given to SC, ST, OBC (Central List), persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen and other specified categories as per Central Government orders adopted by the University.
- Up to 5 years more relaxation is available if you have at least 3 years of regular service in the same or an allied field in a Government department, statutory or autonomous body, university, or PSU.
- The upper age limit is not applied to departmental candidates of the University and its colleges. There is also a one-time exemption for contract, daily-wage and ad hoc employees of the University or its colleges with at least one year of service.

DU Assistant Selection Process 2026
- Stage 1, Preliminary test (shortlisting only): MCQ, 100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours 30 minutes. Each question carries 2 marks and each wrong answer costs 0.5 mark. The marks do not count in the final merit.
- Stage 2, Main examination: descriptive, 200 marks, 2 hours. Merit is drawn from this paper.
- Skill test: 100 marks and only qualifying. You need 50 marks. It covers the Manual of Office Procedures, noting and drafting, computer operations and typing.
For each post, 30 applications are shortlisted for the Main examination for the first vacancy, and 15 more for every extra post. The preliminary cut-off is 50% of the average score of the top 5% of candidates, with 5% relaxation for SC/ST and 10% for PwBD.
