OPSC AEE Recruitment 2026: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has issued Advertisement No. 13 of 2026-27 (dated 9 October 2026) for 758 posts of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in Group-A of the Odisha Engineering Service: 750 AEE (Civil) and 8 AEE (Mechanical). Civil and Mechanical engineering graduates (or AMIE) with a valid GATE 2024, 2025 or 2026 score can apply online at opsc.gov.in until 11 November 2026, 5:00 PM. There is no written exam and no application fee.

Selection is on the basis of your GATE score (90% weightage) and an interview (10% weightage). The posts carry pay in Level-12, Cell-1 of the Odisha pay matrix (ORSP Rules, 2017). The Water Resources Department is the nodal department, and the Civil posts are spread over the Water Resources, Works, and Housing & Urban Development Departments.

Latest Update (28 October 2026): The online application link has been open since 22 October 2026 and closes on 11 November 2026 at 5:00 PM. OPSC issued a 1st Corrigendum on 16 October 2026: it corrects the marks-entry instruction (enter semester marks from HSC up to your B.E./B.Tech in Civil/Mechanical), and clarifies that admission certificates will be issued for Document Verification, not for a written exam. All other terms are unchanged.

The closing time is 5:00 PM, not midnight. Your Degree, GATE score card, caste certificate, Odia test certificate and other certificates must be issued on or before the date you submit the online form.

OPSC AEE Vacancy 2026

The advertisement says the vacancies include backlog posts of previous years. For AEE (Civil), 612 are backlog vacancies and 138 are current vacancies of 2025. For AEE (Mechanical), 4 are backlog and 4 are current.

Post-wise vacancies

AEE (Civil) category-wise vacancies

• Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 50 posts (13 for women): Cat-I 15 (4-W), Cat-II 16 (5-W), Cat-III 10 (2-W), Cat-IV 9 (2-W).
• Sports Persons: 8 posts (2 for women).
• PwD and Sports Person candidates are adjusted against the category they belong to.
• Because this is a combined recruitment for several departments, you must choose the departments in order of preference in the online form. The choice cannot be changed later.

AEE (Mechanical) category-wise vacancies

Two Mechanical posts are reserved for PwD (Cat-I 1, Cat-II 1). There is no UR or SEBC vacancy in AEE (Mechanical), so only SC and ST candidates of Odisha can be selected against these 8 posts.

If enough eligible women are not found in a category, the unfilled women's vacancies go to eligible men of the same category. SC and ST vacancies are not exchanged with each other.

Educational Qualification

GATE score rules (Para 4 of the advertisement):

• A GATE score is valid for 3 years, so only GATE 2024, 2025 and 2026 scores count.
• Your GATE marks must be equal to or above the qualifying marks for your category printed on your score card. Just having a score card is not enough.
• Only the QR-coded GATE Score Card is accepted; the GATE mark sheet is not.
• If you have scores from more than one year, upload only one score card. You will be judged only on the card you upload.
• You must submit an affidavit (Annexure-I) that your uploaded score card is genuine. OPSC may ask you to log in to the GATE portal during Document Verification, so keep your GATE login details ready.

Knowledge of Odia

You must be able to read, write and speak Odia, and must have passed one of these: Middle School exam with Odia as a language; Matriculation with Odia as the medium in a non-language subject; Odia as a language subject in Class VII; or an Odia test of M.E. School standard conducted by the School and Mass Education Department / BSE Odisha. The certificate must be issued before the last date of application. OPSC may also test your Odia at the interview.

Age Limit

You must be 21 to 42 years old as on 01.01.2026, that is, born not earlier than 02.01.1984 and not later than 01.01.2005. The date of birth on your HSC (Class 10) certificate is the only one accepted.

Only one relaxation applies if you fall in more than one category, except the cumulative PwD benefit above. SC, ST and SEBC reservation and relaxation are only for the communities of Odisha. SEBC certificates must be issued on or after 23.10.2023, and an OBC certificate is not accepted in place of an SEBC certificate.

OPSC AEE Application Fee 2026

There is no application fee. The advertisement says the fee is "not applicable as the recruitment is conducted through GATE Score". OPSC also warns about fake advertisements asking for fee payment; do not pay anyone.

OPSC AEE Selection Process 2026

There is no written exam in this recruitment. Selection works like this:

1. Shortlisting for Document Verification: OPSC calls candidates category-wise, in order of GATE score, in phases.
2. Document Verification (DV): your GATE score card, degree, caste, Odia and other certificates are checked. DV is tentatively from the first week of December 2026.
3. Interview: candidates who pass DV are shortlisted in order of merit, about 2 times the vacancies in each category (minimum 5).
4. Final merit list: GATE score carries 90% and interview carries 10% weightage. The list has as many names as there are vacancies in each category.

If two candidates have the same aggregate, the one with more interview marks ranks higher; if still tied, the older candidate ranks higher. Selected candidates must also pass a Medical Board.

OPSC AEE Salary 2026

AEE is a Group-A post in Level-12, Cell-1 of the Pay Matrix under the Odisha Revised Scales of Pay (ORSP) Rules, 2017, with dearness allowance and other allowances sanctioned by the Government of Odisha. Cell-1 of Level-12 in the ORSP 2017 matrix is ₹56,100 basic pay per month; the advertisement itself states only the level and cell.

Other service conditions in the advertisement:

• Probation: 2 years from the date of joining.
• Pension: new appointees are covered by the Contributory Pension Scheme (NPS), not the old pension. Submitting the NPS application is mandatory at joining.

How to Apply for OPSC AEE Recruitment 2026

1. Read Advertisement No. 13 of 2026-27 and the 16.10.2026 corrigendum on opsc.gov.in (What's New section).
2. Register on OPSC's online application portal. You will get a Permanent Public Service Account Number (PPSAN).
3. Fill in your details and choose the departments in order of preference (Civil). This cannot be changed later.
4. Enter your actual marks for every semester/exam from HSC up to your B.E./B.Tech (as corrected by the corrigendum).
5. Upload your photo, full signature, left-hand thumb impression and scanned certificates: HSC certificate, degree, all mark sheets, QR-coded GATE score card, caste/PwD/ESM/sports certificates if applicable, Odia certificate, NOC (for government employees) and an ID proof.
6. Submit before 11 November 2026, 5:00 PM. To change anything after submitting, you have to cancel the application and apply again before the last date.
7. Print the submitted form and sign it. You must bring the signed hard copy to Document Verification.

Government employees must inform their Head of Office in writing and produce a No Objection Certificate at Document Verification.
