SSC GD Running Time 2026: 5 km in 24 Minutes (Men)
Twenty-four minutes for 5 km is an average of 4 minutes 48 seconds per km, or 12.5 km/h. On a 400 m track, 5 km is 12.5 laps. The table is our own arithmetic, so you can pick a target with a safety margin.
| Target finish | Pace per km | Each 400 m lap | Margin under the limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24:00 (the limit) | 4:48 | 115.2 s | 0 |
| 23:00 | 4:36 | 110.4 s | 1 min |
| 22:00 | 4:24 | 105.6 s | 2 min |
| 21:00 | 4:12 | 100.8 s | 3 min |
Aim to train at the 22-minute row. Crowded starts, uneven ground and heat on the day can easily cost a minute.
SSC GD Female Running: 1.6 km in 8.5 Minutes
For women, 1.6 km in 8 minutes 30 seconds is about 5 minutes 19 seconds per km, which is four laps of a 400 m track.
| Target finish | Pace per km | Each 400 m lap | Margin under the limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8:30 (the limit) | 5:19 | 127.5 s | 0 |
| 8:00 | 5:00 | 120 s | 30 s |
| 7:30 | 4:41 | 112.5 s | 1 min |
SSC GD Ladakh Race Standard

Chest is not measured for women; the board only checks that the chest is well developed (para 12.5.2.4). Our SSC GD eligibility and age limit 2026 note covers age and education alongside height.
SSC GD Height Relaxation: Certificate Rule
Relaxed height or chest is checked after you clear the race and before the PST, by the CAPF's PET/PST board (para 12.5.4). ST candidates show a valid ST certificate. Every other candidate claiming a relaxed standard must carry a certificate in the Annexure-IX format from the competent authority. Without it, the general standard applies.
Order of the Day at SSC GD PET/PST
- Biometric verification of shortlisted candidates (para 12.2).
- Pregnancy self-declaration by women candidates (para 12.4.1).
- Race (PET) at the time limit for your gender and region.
- Relaxation certificate scrutiny for those who cleared the race (para 12.5.4).
- PST: height, chest (men) and weight.
Who Is Exempt and Who Can Appeal
| Situation | What the notice says |
|---|---|
| Ex-Servicemen | Exempt from PET (no race), but must attend for height, chest and weight to be recorded, and must pass the medical (para 12.3) |
| Failed height or chest | Appeal the same day to the Appellate Authority through the Presiding Officer; that decision is final (para 12.5.5) |
| Failed the race | No appeal in PET (para 12.5.5) |
| Woman found pregnant | Declared temporarily unfit; vacancy kept reserved; re-test six weeks after confinement with a fitness certificate (para 12.4.1) |
| Complaints against the board | SSC will not entertain representations, RTI or CPGRAMS against PET/PST or medical board decisions (para 12.5.6) |
What Comes After SSC GD PET: Medical and Document Verification
Candidates who clear PET/PST are shortlisted for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Document Verification, about 2 times the vacancies, on CBE merit (para 14.6). Carry these to DME/DV (para 12.6.1):
| Document | When needed |
|---|---|
| Matriculation certificate | Always (age, name, qualification) |
| Domicile / Permanent Resident Certificate | Always |
| Caste certificate (Annexure-VI to VIII format) | If claiming reservation or age relaxation |
| Annexure-IX certificate | If claiming relaxed height or chest |
| NCC certificate | If you claimed NCC bonus marks; without it the bonus is withdrawn (para 14.8) |
| Ex-Servicemen undertaking (Annexure-V) / serving-defence certificate (Annexure-IV) | If applicable |
Final selection and force allocation use only CBE normalised marks plus NCC bonus, among those who clear PET/PST, medical and DV (paras 14.10 to 14.12). See the SSC GD cut off for previous CBE cut-offs.
SSC GD PET Date 2026: Status
As of 31 Oct 2026, no PET/PST date has been published by SSC or CRPF. SSC's 12.10.2026 write-up (para 16) says only that PET/PST "will be conducted by the CAPFs in due course" and that CRPF will issue call letters. The notice says CRPF call letters come about 2 weeks before the test (para 13.7); if you cannot download yours, contact CRPF at least one week before, helpline 011-26160255 (para 13.8). Some websites print a date with no official source; ignore it until CRPF or SSC confirms.
