RRB NTPC Cut Off: Quick Answer
In the last completed Graduate cycle (CEN 05/2024), the unreserved (UR) cut-off for document verification ranged from about 75.7 to 82.9 marks out of 100 in the three RRBs we checked, while SC ranged from about 70.7 to 78.8 and ST from about 71.7 to 75.2. These are official normalised marks published by each Railway Recruitment Board on 6–7 May 2026; the expected 2026 figures further down are our estimates, not official numbers.
Key takeaway: RRB NTPC has no single all-India cut-off. Each RRB publishes its own cut-off for each Railway zone, each post group ("Category No.") and each community. Always compare your normalised score with the PDF of the RRB you applied to.
As of 28 Oct 2026, no cut-off has been published for the 2026 notifications, CEN 06/2026 (Graduate, 3,548 posts) and CEN 07/2026 (Undergraduate, 1,688 posts). Applications are still open, and the Graduate CBT 1 is tentatively planned for the fourth week of December 2026. See the RRB NTPC 2026 notification page for dates.
How the RRB NTPC Cut Off Works (CBT 1, CBT 2, DV)
| Stage | What decides the cut-off | Official rule |
|---|---|---|
| CBT 1 | Normalised CBT 1 marks | Screening only; candidates called for CBT 2 at 15 times the community-wise vacancies of each RRB |
| CBT 2 | Normalised CBT 2 marks out of 100 | Merit stage for posts without an aptitude or typing test |
| Station Master (in 2024 cycle) | 70% of CBT 2 + 30% of CBAT | CBAT applied to Category 2 in CEN 05/2024; Station Master is not in CEN 06/2026 |
| Document verification | Merit list | Called at 1:1 with vacancies |
Minimum qualifying marks in each CBT are 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC (NCL) and SC, and 25% for ST. These are only a floor. The real cut-off is set by merit and is far higher, as the tables below show. Full pattern details are in our RRB NTPC syllabus 2026 note.
RRB NTPC Previous Year Cut Off (CEN 05/2024, Official)
These are the cut-offs for candidates shortlisted for document verification, as printed in each RRB's notice dated 6–7 May 2026. CEN 05/2024 was the Graduate notification with 8,113 posts. In each PDF, Category 1 and 3 cut-offs are "Marks of CBT 2 out of 100", and Category 2 (Station Master) is "70% of CBT 2 + 30% of CBAT". RRBs number the post groups themselves, so check your RRB's notice for which post is Category 1 or 3.

Figures are rounded to two decimals from the official PDFs, which print up to five decimals (for example, Kolkata Category 1 ER UR is 82.30088). A dash means the PDF prints no figure for that column. PwBD cut-offs are also in the PDFs; for example, RRB Kolkata Category 1 ER lists R-HI 63.42 and R-LD 75.81.
Other RRBs published their own PDFs on the same dates. Cut-offs for Category 4 and 5 (the typist posts) came later, after the typing test. The CBT 1 result and CBT 1 cut-offs for CEN 05/2024 were published on 19–20 September 2025 on each RRB's website.
What the 2024 Numbers Tell You
- The general merit band is about 78 to 83. In the three RRBs above, UR cut-offs for Category 1 and 3 sit between 77.88 and 82.89 out of 100.
- Zones differ by up to 5 marks. Ahmedabad (WR) Category 3 UR was 77.88, while Chennai (SR) Category 3 UR was 82.89.
- Reserved gaps are small at the top. OBC and EWS were usually within 1–2 marks of UR; SC trailed by about 4–7 marks and ST by about 6–9.
- Ex-Servicemen cut-offs are much lower, mostly 53–63.
RRB NTPC Expected Cut Off 2026 (CEN 06/2026, Expected)
These are estimates, not official cut-offs. We will update this page when RRBs publish the CEN 06/2026 results.
Method: We started from the official CEN 05/2024 document-verification cut-offs above (the only completed Graduate cycle with verified PDFs in our records), then adjusted for the change in vacancies: CEN 06/2026 has 3,548 posts against 8,113 in CEN 05/2024, about 56% fewer. Fewer seats with a similar applicant pool usually pushes the merit cut-off up, so we add 0 to 2 marks. We have not adjusted for paper difficulty because the 2026 CBTs have not been held.
| Category | CEN 05/2024 official range (3 RRBs, Cat 1 & 3) | CEN 06/2026 Expected range |
|---|---|---|
| UR | 77.88 – 82.89 | 78 – 85 (Expected) |
| OBC (NCL) | 76.58 – 82.30 | 77 – 84 (Expected) |
| EWS | 76.36 – 82.01 | 76 – 84 (Expected) |
| SC | 72.07 – 78.76 | 72 – 81 (Expected) |
| ST | 71.77 – 75.22 | 71 – 77 (Expected) |
Limitations: Station Master is not part of CEN 06/2026, so the Category 2 (Station Master) figures do not carry over. We have not produced an expected figure for CEN 07/2026 (Undergraduate), because we have not verified official Undergraduate cut-off PDFs; we will add it once we do. CBT 1 cut-offs are lower than these final figures, since CBT 1 only screens candidates at 15 times the vacancies.

Target Score for RRB NTPC 2026
If you are a UR candidate, aim for 85+ out of 100 in CBT 2 to stay safely above the expected band. For practice, start with RRB NTPC CBT 1 Full Mock Test 01, try a real paper with the RRB NTPC Graduate 2026 question paper (16 March, Shift 2), then move to CBT 2 Full Mock Test 01.
