RRB Group D Cut Off: Quick Answer
In the last completed RRB Group D cycle (CEN 08/2024), the unreserved (UR) cut-off for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) ranged from 70.29 (RRB Bengaluru) to 78.01 (RRB Chennai) in normalised marks out of 100 across the five RRBs we checked. These are official figures dated 01 July 2026; the CEN 09/2025 figures further down are our estimates, labelled Expected.
Key takeaway: The Group D cut-off is the lowest normalised CBT mark that made the PET shortlist in each community, and each RRB publishes its own. As of 28 Oct 2026, we have not found an official cut-off for CEN 09/2025 (22,195 posts).
How the RRB Group D Cut Off Is Decided
| Point | Official rule |
|---|---|
| Exam | Single CBT, 100 questions, 100 marks, 1/3 negative marking |
| Marks used | Normalised marks (the CBT runs in many shifts) |
| PET shortlist | Three times the community-wise vacancies of each Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), excluding PwBD, ExSM and CCAA candidates |
| PET | Qualifying only; PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and Course Completed Act Apprentices are exempt |
| After PET | Document verification and medical examination, run by the RRC of the zonal railway |
Minimum qualifying marks (CEN 09/2025): 40% for UR and EWS; 30% for OBC (NCL), SC and ST. PwBD candidates may get a 2-mark relaxation if reserved vacancies would otherwise stay unfilled. These are floors. The actual cut-off is set by merit and, in 2024, was about 30 marks higher for UR. Details are in our RRB Group D syllabus 2026 note.
RRB Group D Previous Year Cut Off (CEN 08/2024, Official)
CEN 08/2024 covered various Level 1 posts. Its CBT ran from 27.11.2025 to 10.02.2026, and each RRB published "Normalised cut off marks of candidates shortlisted for Physical Efficiency Test (PET)" on 01.07.2026.
| RRB | UR | SC | ST | OBC | EWS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ahmedabad | 72.16 | 66.06 | 62.13 | 71.14 | 67.67 |
| Bengaluru | 70.29 | 62.28 | 60.43 | 64.87 | 60.40 |
| Bhopal | 77.73 | 73.66 | 67.67 | 77.41 | 75.07 |
| Bhubaneswar | 76.69 | 67.15 | 58.19 | 75.43 | 69.81 |
| Chennai | 78.01 | 70.63 | 63.00 | 76.66 | 71.11 |
Figures are rounded to two decimals from the official PDFs, which print up to five (for example, Bhubaneswar UR is 76.68726 and Chennai ST is 63.00000). Each PDF is dated 01/07/2026 and signed by the RRB.
RRB Bhubaneswar's notice adds that the shortlist is "purely on provisional basis subject to the final judgement of Hon'ble High Court, Telangana in WP No. 7985/2026". It shortlisted 1,706 candidates for PET.
Other RRBs (Ajmer, Bilaspur, Chandigarh, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Prayagraj, Ranchi and Secunderabad) published their own cut-offs the same week. Check the CEN 08/2024 page on your RRB's website for your zone's figure.
What the CEN 08/2024 Cut-Offs Show
- UR band: about 70 to 78. Bengaluru was the lowest of the five at 70.29; Chennai the highest at 78.01.
- OBC sits close to UR in most RRBs (within 1.5 marks in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar and Chennai), but Bengaluru's OBC was 5.4 marks below its UR.
- ST varies the most: from 58.19 (Bhubaneswar) to 67.67 (Bhopal).
- The gap between the qualifying floor and the real cut-off is large. UR needs 40 to qualify, but no UR candidate below 70 made the PET list in these five RRBs.
RRB Group D Expected Cut Off 2026 (CEN 09/2025, Expected)
These are estimates, not official cut-offs. We will update this page when RRBs publish the CEN 09/2025 result.
Method: We took the official CEN 08/2024 PET cut-offs above as the base (the most recent completed cycle with verified PDFs in our records). We then adjusted for vacancies: CEN 09/2025 has 22,195 posts against 32,438 in CEN 08/2024, about 32% fewer. With fewer seats, the PET shortlist (three times vacancies) gets smaller, so we add 1 to 3 marks to the 2024 range. We have not adjusted for paper difficulty, because we have not verified an official difficulty measure for the CEN 09/2025 shifts.
| Category | CEN 08/2024 official range (5 RRBs) | CEN 09/2025 Expected range |
|---|---|---|
| UR | 70.29 – 78.01 | 71 – 81 (Expected) |
| OBC (NCL) | 64.87 – 77.41 | 66 – 80 (Expected) |
| EWS | 60.40 – 75.07 | 61 – 78 (Expected) |
| SC | 62.28 – 73.66 | 63 – 76 (Expected) |
| ST | 58.19 – 67.67 | 59 – 70 (Expected) |
Limitations: Vacancies fall by different amounts in different RRCs, so your zone may move more or less than this range. The 2024 base covers five of the RRBs; a zone outside these five can sit above or below the range.
