- Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions given after it. Mobile phones have changed the way students in small towns prepare for examinations. A decade ago, a student in a district town had to travel to a big city to join a coaching class. Today, the same student can watch lectures, solve mock tests and clear doubts from home, often at a fraction of the cost. This access has opened doors for many who could not afford to leave home, especially young women whose families were reluctant to send them to distant cities. Teachers in small towns, too, have found new audiences by recording lessons in local languages. Yet the phone is also a source of distraction. Notifications, short videos and games compete for the same hours that a student sets aside for study. Many aspirants admit that they lose more time to their phones than they gain from online classes. The students who benefit most seem to be those who use the device with discipline: they switch off notifications, follow a fixed timetable and treat online material as a supplement to, not a substitute for, their own practice.
