IBPS PO Salary 2026: Quick Answer
The official IBPS notice for CRP PO/MT-XVI (vacancies of 2027-28) gives the basic pay of a Probationary Officer / Management Trainee as ₹48,480 in the scale ₹48,480-2,000/7-62,480-2,340/2-67,160-2,680/7-85,920. On top of basic pay, "the official will be eligible for allowances & perquisites as per rules of the Participating Bank in force from time to time." IBPS does not publish a CTC or a monthly in-hand figure, because each of the 11 public sector banks pays its own allowances.

Key takeaway: For IBPS PO, the only salary number IBPS prints is the pay scale. DA, HRA, CCA and other allowances follow the rules of the bank you are allotted to, so two IBPS POs in different banks or cities can have different take-home pay on the same ₹48,480 basic.
IBPS PO Pay Scale 2026 Explained (JMGS-I)
| Part of the scale | Meaning | Basic pay range |
|---|---|---|
| 48,480 | Starting basic pay (as printed by IBPS) | ₹48,480 |
| 2,000 / 7 | 7 increments of ₹2,000 | ₹48,480 to ₹62,480 |
| 2,340 / 2 | 2 increments of ₹2,340 | ₹62,480 to ₹67,160 |
| 2,680 / 7 | 7 increments of ₹2,680 | ₹67,160 to ₹85,920 |
| 85,920 | Top of the scale | ₹85,920 |
Arithmetic check: 48,480 + 7 × 2,000 = 62,480; 62,480 + 2 × 2,340 = 67,160; 67,160 + 7 × 2,680 = 85,920. That is 16 increments from the bottom to the top of Scale-I.
IBPS PO basic pay after each increment (from the official scale)
| Increment number | Basic pay |
|---|---|
| Start | ₹48,480 |
| 1 | ₹50,480 |
| 2 | ₹52,480 |
| 3 | ₹54,480 |
| 4 | ₹56,480 |
| 5 | ₹58,480 |
| 6 | ₹60,480 |
| 7 | ₹62,480 |
| 8 | ₹64,820 |
| 9 | ₹67,160 |
| 10 to 16 | ₹69,840, ₹72,520, ₹75,200, ₹77,880, ₹80,560, ₹83,240, ₹85,920 |
The IBPS notice does not say how often increments are given or whether any advance increments are paid at joining. That is decided by the participating bank's own service rules, so we have not assumed a timeline.
IBPS PO Salary Structure: What the Notice Says and What It Does Not
| Item | What the IBPS notice says |
|---|---|
| Basic pay | ₹48,480 in the JMGS-I scale above |
| Allowances and perquisites | "As per rules of the Participating Bank in force from time to time" |
| DA, HRA, CCA rates | Not published in the IBPS notice |
| CTC / in-hand | Not published in the IBPS notice |
| Which bank pays you | Decided at provisional allotment, based on the actual vacancies reported by banks, the Government's reservation guidelines and administrative needs (notice, Introduction) |
Because the allowance rates are not in the notice, we do not print an "IBPS PO in-hand salary" figure. A number you see elsewhere was built from assumptions that IBPS has not published. If you are allotted a bank, its offer letter is the official source for your pay.
The 11 participating banks in IBPS PO 2026
Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India (notice, section A). SBI is not part of IBPS PO; it recruits POs on its own.
IBPS PO vs SBI PO Salary (Official Figures Side by Side)
| Item | IBPS PO (CRP PO/MT-XVI) | SBI PO (CRPD/PO/2026-27/09) |
|---|---|---|
| Pay scale | ₹48,480-2,000/7-62,480-2,340/2-67,160-2,680/7-85,920 | Same scale (JMGS-I) |
| Starting basic as printed | ₹48,480 | ₹48,480 plus 4 advance increments |
| CTC published? | No | Yes, about ₹21.97 lakh at the Mumbai centre |
| Allowances | As per the participating bank's rules | DA, HRA, CCA, PF, NPS, LFC, medical, lease rental and others as per SBI rules |
The scale is the same, but SBI's notice explicitly gives 4 advance increments and a CTC; IBPS's notice does neither. Details and sources are on our SBI PO salary 2026 page.

How IBPS PO Salary Grows (Without Guessing)
The facts you can rely on:
- Inside Scale-I: 16 increments take basic pay from ₹48,480 to ₹85,920 (table above).
- Promotion: moving to the next officer scale puts you on a different, higher scale. The IBPS notice does not cover promotion rules; they are each bank's policy.
- Allowances: DA and other allowances are revised under the bank's rules "in force from time to time".
Anything more precise, such as "salary after 5 years", depends on a bank's increment and promotion rules that IBPS does not publish.
IBPS PO Salary FAQs

₹48,480 a month, in the JMGS-I scale ₹48,480-2,000/7-62,480-2,340/2-67,160-2,680/7-85,920, as per the CRP PO/MT-XVI notice.

What is the maximum basic pay of an IBPS PO in Scale-I?
₹85,920, reached after 16 increments. Further growth comes from promotion.
