IBPS RRB PO Preparation Plan 2026: Quick Answer
With the IBPS RRB PO Prelims on 21 and 22 November 2026, you have about 24 days from 28 October. The best use of that time is a three-phase plan: days 1-10 fix weak topics, days 11-19 take a full mock every day and analyse it, days 20-24 revise and rest, while practising Reasoning in 25 minutes and Quant in 20 minutes exactly as the paper is timed.
As of 28 Oct 2026: Dates are from the IBPS tentative calendar 2026-27 (Prelims 21-22 Nov 2026, Mains 20 Dec 2026). The CRP RRBs-XV notification gives "November / December 2026", so confirm your shift on the call letter. The day-wise timetable below is BookOfExams' study advice, not an IBPS document.
IBPS RRB PO Prelims 2026 Pattern (What the Plan Is Built On)
| Section | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reasoning | 40 | 40 | 25 minutes |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 40 | 40 | 20 minutes |
| Total | 80 | 80 | 45 minutes |
Source: CRP RRBs-XV notification. There is a 0.25 penalty for each wrong answer, and you must clear the cut-off in both sections. Two things follow for your plan: there is no English or GA in the Prelims, so all 24 days go to Reasoning and Quant; and since sections are separately timed, a weak section cannot be rescued by a strong one. High-Weight Topics to Prioritise in the RRB PO Prelims
IBPS does not publish topic-wise weightage. The table below is a practical priority list based on the question types the RRB PO Prelims has been built around in recent years; treat it as a guide, not an official split.
| Reasoning (25 min) | Quant (20 min) |
|---|---|
| Puzzles and seating arrangement (the biggest block) | Data Interpretation (table, bar, pie, line) |
| Inequality (direct and coded) | Simplification / Approximation |
| Syllogism | Number series (missing and wrong) |
| Alphanumeric series, order and ranking | Quadratic equations |
| Coding-decoding, blood relation, direction | Arithmetic word problems (percentage, profit-loss, SI-CI, ratio, time-work, speed) |
Rule of thumb: in Quant, Simplification + Series + Quadratic are your fastest marks; in Reasoning, Inequality + Syllogism + small arrangements are. Secure these first, then attack puzzles and DI.
24-Day IBPS RRB PO Study Plan (28 Oct to 20 Nov 2026)
Phase 1: Days 1-10 (28 Oct - 6 Nov) - Fix Weak Areas
| Day | Reasoning (75 min) | Quant (75 min) | Test |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Inequality + coded inequality | Simplification | Sectional diagnostic (both) |
| 2 | Syllogism (possibility, only a few) | Approximation | 20-question speed drill |
| 3 | Linear seating | Missing number series | Inequality mock |
| 4 | Circular seating | Wrong number series | Number series mock |
| 5 | Floor and box puzzles | Quadratic equations | Puzzle mock |
| 6 | Month/day based puzzles | Table and bar DI | Quadratic mock |
| 7 | Alphanumeric series, order-ranking | Pie and line DI | First full mock |
| 8 | Blood relation, direction sense | Percentage, profit-loss | Seating mock |
| 9 | Coding-decoding | SI-CI, ratio, ages | Arithmetic mock |
| 10 | Mixed puzzles (3 sets timed) | Time-work, speed-distance, mixture | Full mock + analysis |
Phase 2: Days 11-19 (7 Nov - 15 Nov) - Daily Full Mocks
Each day: one full 45-minute mock in the morning slot, then 60-90 minutes of analysis, then re-solve every wrong or skipped question. Spend the rest of the day on the two topics where you lost the most marks. Keep a mistake notebook with the question, your error and the correct method.
Phase 3: Days 20-24 (16 Nov - 20 Nov) - Revise and Stay Sharp
- One full mock on alternate days only; do not learn new topics.
- Revise your mistake notebook, tables up to 30, squares up to 50, cubes up to 25 and percentage-fraction values.
- Day 24 (20 Nov): light revision, check documents and banned items using our IBPS RRB PO exam day guidelines 2026, and sleep on time.
Section Strategy for the 45-Minute RRB PO Prelims
| Section | Suggested order | Target attempts* |
|---|---|---|
| Reasoning (25 min) | Inequality → Syllogism → small series/coding → 2-3 puzzles | 30-34 accurate |
| Quant (20 min) | Simplification/Approx → Series → Quadratic → DI → arithmetic | 28-32 accurate |
*Target attempts are BookOfExams practice targets for mocks, not cut-offs. With a 0.25 penalty, five wrong answers cost 1.25 marks, so do not guess blindly; skip a puzzle that does not open in 90 seconds.

IBPS RRB PO Preparation Plan FAQs
Is 24 days enough for IBPS RRB PO Prelims 2026?
Yes, if you already know the basic concepts. The Prelims has only Reasoning and Quant (80 questions), so 24 focused days of topic fixing plus daily mocks is a workable plan.
How many mocks should I take before the RRB PO Prelims?
Our plan has about 14-16 full mocks: a few in Phase 1, one every day in Phase 2 and alternate days in Phase 3. Analysis matters more than the number.
RRB PO prelims ki taiyari 1 mahine me kaise karein?
Pehle 10 din weak topics (inequality, syllogism, series, quadratic, DI) theek karein, agle 9 din roz ek full mock aur uska analysis karein, aur aakhri 5 din sirf revision karein.
Is there English in the IBPS RRB PO Prelims?
No. As per the CRP RRBs-XV notification, the Officer Scale I Prelims has only Reasoning (40) and Quantitative Aptitude (40).
