General Intelligence and Reasoning (Q1–1)

  1. Official paper: RRB NTPC Graduate Level CBT-1 (CEN 06/2025), held on 16 March 2026, Shift 3 (4:30 PM). Questions and the answer key are as on the RRB candidate response sheet. Explanations are written by BookOfExams. Pattern (CEN 06/2025, para 13.2): 100 questions, 90 minutes; General Awareness 40, Mathematics 30, General Intelligence and Reasoning 30; +1 for a correct answer, −1/3 for a wrong one.

Q1.Based on the English alphabetical order, three of the following four letter-cluster pairs are alike in a certain way and thus form a group. Which is the one that does not belong to that group? (Note: The odd man out is not based on the number of consonants/vowels or their position in the letter-cluster.)

    • ARV−WA
    • BPT−UY
    • CGK−LP
    • DEI−IP

    Answer: (D) EI−IP

In RV-WA, PT-UY and GK-LP each pair is +4 within and the second pair starts +5 after the first (R→W, P→U, G→L). In EI-IP the second pair is +7 within (I→P), so it is the odd one.

Mathematics (Q2–2)

  1. Q2.In the figure given, parallel lines, AB and CD, are intercepted by a transversal t at E and F, respectively. If EG is the angle bisector of ∠AEF, find ∠EGF.

Figure for question 2: In the figure given, parallel lines, AB and CD, are intercepted by a transversal t at E and F, respectively. If EG is the angle bisector of
    • A35°
    • B85°
    • C60°
    • D90°

    Answer: (C) 60°

    70° at F (below CD, beside t) is vertically opposite ∠EFD, so ∠EFD = 70° and, by alternate angles, ∠AEF = 70°. EG bisects it: ∠GEF = 35°. At F above CD, ∠CFE = 110° and the marked 25° is ∠GFC, so ∠GFE = 85°. In triangle EGF: ∠EGF = 180 − 35 − 85 = 60°.

General Awareness (Q3–4)

  1. Q3.In which of the following states is the Baishagu festival celebrated by the Boro Kacharis in the month of April?

    • AOdisha
    • BKarnataka

Mathematics (Q5–7)

  1. Q5.Simplify 5⅙ ÷ 6.2 × 0.75 ÷ (1/5 × 40).

    • A2/17
    • B5/64
    • C7/33
    • D9/19

    Answer: (B) 5/64

    5⅙ = 31/6. 31/6 ÷ 6.2 = 5/6. × 0.75 = 5/8. The bracket (1/5 × 40) = 8, so 5/8 ÷ 8 = 5/64.

  2. Q6.If a is a positive integer such that the equations (a² − 7a)x² + x + 12 = 0 and 240x² + 8x + (a² − 4) = 0 both have roots common, then the value of (a + 2)(a + 3)/(a − 4) is:

    • A18
    • B26
    • C30
    • D42

    Answer: (B) 26

    For both roots to be common the coefficients must be in proportion: (a² − 7a)/240 = 1/8 = 12/(a² − 4). So a² − 7a = 30 (a = 10) and a² − 4 = 96 (a = 10). Then (12 × 13)/6 = 26.

  3. Q7.During a sale 50% of the goods are sold at 16% profit, 40% of the remaining goods are sold at 35% profit and the still remaining goods are sold at a loss of 25%. If there is an overall profit of x%, then what is the value of x?

    • A7.5
    • B8
    • C6
    • D9

    Answer: (A) 7.5

    Overall profit = 0.5 × 16 + (0.4 × 0.5) × 35 + (0.6 × 0.5) × (−25) = 8 + 7 − 7.5 = 7.5%.

E.g. 13 – Operations on 13 such as adding/ subtracting /multiplying to 13 can be performed. Breaking down 13 into 1 and 3 and then performing mathematical operations on 1 and 3 is not allowed.)

    • A165
    • B175
    • C145
    • D155

    Answer: (D) 155

    Rule: + 92. 52 + 92 = 144 and 81 + 92 = 173, so 63 + 92 = 155.

Mathematics (Q91–91)

  1. Q91.The total surface area of a solid cube each side of which is 84 cm long is:

    • A42365 cm²
    • B42292 cm²
    • C42359 cm²
    • D42336 cm²

    Answer: (D) 42336 cm²

    TSA = 6a² = 6 × 84² = 6 × 7056 = 42,336 cm².

General Intelligence and Reasoning (Q92–92)

  1. Q92.Seven people B, C, O, P, Q, R and S are sitting around a circular table facing the center of the table. B sits second to the right of S. Q sits third to the left of S. Only two people sit between P and R when counted from the right of R. C is an immediate neighbor of P. Who sits to the immediate left and right of O, respectively?

    • AS and B
    • BC and B
    • CS and P
    • DC and S

    Answer: (A) S and B

Going clockwise (each person's left, since all face the centre) the seating is B, O, S, P, C, Q, R. Check: B second to the right of S, Q third to the left of S, two people (Q, C) between R and P from R's right, C next to P. O has S on the immediate left and B on the immediate right.

Mathematics (Q93–93)

  1. Q93.At what rate per annum will a sum of money become five times itself in 5 years under simple interest?

    • A82%
    • B160%
    • C80%
    • D78%

    Answer: (C) 80%

    To become 5 times, the interest is 4P = P × r × 5/100, so r = 80%.

General Awareness (Q94–94)

  1. Q94.In December 2025, the Punjab government directed strict enforcement of which policy to safeguard schoolchildren during dense winter fog (mandatory visibility measures, reduced speed, reflectors, headlights and fog lights)?

    • AMotor Vehicles Safety Compliance Programme
    • BSafe School Vehicle Policy
    • CNational Road Safety Policy
    • DNational School Safety and Security Guidelines

Answer: (B) Safe School Vehicle Policy

In December 2025 Punjab's Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur ordered strict enforcement of the Safe School Vehicle Policy for the fog season: visibility, lower speed, reflectors, headlights and fog lights.

Mathematics (Q95–96)

  1. Q95.Shan has ₹1407 with him. He divides this amount between his two sons, Piyush and Manoj, and asks them to invest their respective shares at a compound interest rate of 10% per annum, compounded annually. It is observed that Piyush’s investment amounts to the same value after 18 years as Manoj’s investment does after 19 years. How much (in ₹) did Shan give to Manoj?

    • A670
    • B837
    • C737
    • D520

    Answer: (A) 670

    Piyush's share after 18 years = Manoj's after 19 years, so Piyush = 1.1 × Manoj. Manoj = 1407/2.1 = ₹670.

  2. Q96.In an election between two candidates, 80% of the registered voters cast their vote and 10% of the votes polled were found invalid. Winning candidate got 89% of the valid votes and won the election by a margin of 351 votes. How many voters were registered?

    • A625
    • B650
    • C600
    • D675

    Answer: (A) 625

    Valid votes = 0.8 × 0.9 × R = 0.72R. The margin is 89% − 11% = 78% of valid votes: 0.78 × 0.72R = 351, so R = 625.

General Intelligence and Reasoning (Q97–98)

  1. Q97.Each of the digits in the number 52697148 is arranged in descending order from left to right. What will be the product of the digits which are third from the left and second from the right in the number thus formed?

    • A14
    • B12
    • C16
    • D28

    Answer: (A) 14

    Descending: 9 8 7 6 5 4 2 1. Third from left = 7 and second from right = 2. Product = 14.

  2. Q98.In a certain code language, E + F means ‘E is the brother of F’, E – F means ‘E is the father of F’, E x F means ‘E is the husband of F’ and E ÷ F means ‘E is the mother of F’. How is P related to T if ‘P + Q – R x S ÷ T’?

    • AFather's Father's Brother
    • BFather's Brother
    • CFather
    • DBrother

    Answer: (A) Father's Father's Brother

    P + Q: P is the brother of Q. Q − R: Q is the father of R. R × S: R is the husband of S. S ÷ T: S is the mother of T. So R is T's father, Q is T's father's father, and P is T's father's father's brother.
