Puzzles for Bank Exams: 123 Free Practice Tests

Puzzles (floor, box, month/day scheduling and comparison puzzles) carry the largest share of marks in bank prelims and mains reasoning. A set usually has 5 questions on one arrangement.

Speed comes from a fixed method: draw the table first, place definite clues, branch only where needed, and drop branches as soon as a clue breaks them.

Puzzles: How to approach a puzzle

  • Read the whole set once and note the variables (people, floors, months, items) before drawing anything.
  • Draw the frame (floors 1 to n with 1 at the bottom, or the months in calendar order) exactly as the question defines it.
  • Place definite clues first ("A lives on floor 3"), then clues that link two people, then negative clues ("B does not live on an even floor").
  • When a clue allows two placements, draw both cases side by side and continue each until one breaks.
  • Re-check every clue against the final table before answering; one missed negative clue is the usual mistake.
  • Skip a set that has not opened in about 3–4 minutes and come back to it after the others.

How many puzzle sets come in bank prelims?

It varies by exam and shift; recent bank prelims have had several puzzle or seating sets in reasoning. Check the topic-wise analysis in each previous year paper on our PYP pages.

Should I attempt puzzles first?

Attempt the short questions (inequality, syllogism, coding) first, then the easiest-looking puzzle, so a hard set does not eat your time early.
